Atrium Apartments

Marra completed the Atrium Apartments in March 2001 within the $7 million contract budget and ahead of the initial programme duration of 11 months.

The complex consisted of 7 floors and 60 self contained apartments constructed around a glass roofed atrium with ground floor and basement parking. On-site facilities include a swimming pool, spa pool, sauna and gymnasium.

The basement carpark is constructed below the water table and required a full de-watering and sheet piling system during the excavation and initial structure construction stage. The structure consisted of reinforced concrete sheer walls and concrete block exterior walls with a mixture of insitu and precast concrete floor slabs. The exterior walls were then coated with a durable plastered finishing system. Windows and doors are powder coated aluminium, with sliding doors to tiled balconies and a fully glazed handrail system to all balconies.

Internally, apartment interiors have a painted finished plasterboard system to walls and ceilings, with a mix of carpeted and tiled floor finishes.

Although time and budget constraints often have an effect on commercial apartment projects, the developer in this instance did not compromise in the selection of materials with durability and longevity foremost in the selection process.
